After winning the 1994 Leeds Conductor's Competition, Brad Cohen came to public attention conducting the world premiere of Thomas Adès ‘Powder Her Face’. Since that auspicious beginning he has conducted a wide ranging repertoire at English National Opera, New York City Opera, Opera Australia, Opera North, opera companies including Luzern, Nantes/Angers, Nederlands Reisopera, Opera Holland Park, and at festivals including Edinburgh, Cheltenham, Adelaide, Hong Kong, Rossini in Wildbad.
Brad has conducted Carmen and Lucia di Lammermoor for West Australian Opera. In 2014, engagements included a concert with Melbourne Symphony, Otello with State Opera of SA and Stiffelio at London’s South Bank with Chelsea Opera Group and The Magic Flute with West Australian Opera. In 2015 he returned to Opera Holland Park to conduct Flight and took up his appointment as the Artistic Director of West Australian Opera. Brad also has an active role as an editor and publisher of Urtext operatic editions. He returns to Perth to conduct West Australian Opera’s season of Gounod’s Faust.
